Aid Station #6 (Final Station) - Volunteer Brief

Three distances: 50M (blue bibs), 55K (green), 25K (red)

⏱️ Timeline

10:30 AM Arrive at aid station and set up
11:15 AM First runners expected to arrive
10:00 PM Last runners expected through
10:05 PM Clean up aid station and send sweepers out
10:30 PM Driver picks up gear for return to warehouse

🎯 Responsibilities

🏃 Runner Support (CRITICAL)

  • ACTIVELY approach runners
  • Take bottles/packs and fill them
  • Ask: water, electrolytes, or both?
  • Offer food and nutrition
  • Provide encouragement!

📋 Runner Tracking (CRITICAL)

  • Check in EVERY runner arrival
  • Check out EVERY runner departure
  • Cannot be missed - safety critical

🏥 Safety & Medical

  • Know emergency procedures
  • Record drops (bib # and reason)
  • Coordinate medical needs
  • Contact race directors if needed

⚠️ Important Notes

  • ✓ This is the FINAL aid station - 5 miles mostly downhill single track to finish (last 0.7 miles on road)
  • ✓ No cutoff at finish - if runners make it to AS6, they're home free!
  • ✓ The course is marked with BLUE DC PEAKS flags on the RIGHT side of ground, any other markers are NOT OURS
  • ✓ DC Peaks provides pizza for runners and volunteers
  • ✓ Be prepared to warm up broth for runners
